In our fast-paced, increasingly impersonal world, it feels great to have someone who will:
That person is available. They serve as a Shine Leader dedicated to the care and service of teenage girls. Transitioning from childhood to adulthood in this 21st Century age carries many challenges. The SHINE program has been fashioned to address the many issues of identity and personal esteem. It flows from a genuine desire to place value upon womanhood, regardless of her age. The intent of Shine is to create an environment where girls discover they are valuable; created one-of-a-kind; able to affect the course of their own life; have purpose, significance and much to offer.Our goal is to communicate the truth of WORTH, STRENGTH and PURPOSE to teenage girls to help them successfully navigate from girl-life into womanhood. The Shine program was birthed in 1997 and has since been successfully presented in high schools, throughout the nation and beyond, with the enthusiastic cooperation of school principals, staff and students and parents. Shine has a strong and positive impact on girls, particularly from indigenous and culturally-diverse backgrounds. |
